Root Cause Reports is a map-based database designed to capture and share real-time field issues impacting soybean, corn, and tobacco production across North Carolina. The platform was built through collaboration among Extension Agents, Crop Consultants, Industry Agronomists, and NC State specialists to centralize observations and expertise from across the state.
Root Cause Reports compiles photos, field observations, diagnoses, and management recommendations collected through the PDIC, field visits, and digital consultations. These reports are organized in a searchable library and interactive map, allowing users to quickly identify emerging problems and learn how others are managing similar challenges.
By visualizing issues at the county and state level, the platform helps growers, consultants, and specialists stay informed about what is happening across North Carolina’s production regions. This shared awareness allows the agricultural community to respond more quickly to disease outbreaks, pest issues, and other production challenges.
Email subscribers can receive biweekly newsletters summarizing the most common problems reported during the previous 2 weeks, along with relevant management recommendations and resources.
